Tremfan Hall, Wales
A cryptic note from a reader said: "Visited Wales, ate at Tremfan Hall, thought you might be interested." Looking at the website, I certainly was. Tremfan is a magnificent house on the Lleyn peninsula, Gwynedd, with beautiful gardens and, beyond them, the sea. A uniformed young man took us to a door with a keypad. We found ourselves in a splendid panelled hall with a majestic staircase that led up to the rooms.
Ours was huge and had a bed with a carved head, oriental carpets, Victorian armchairs. In the bar was another blazing fire. And, after our main courses in the restaurant, we were given a menu with the message, "We hope you have enjoyed your meal and have room left to spoil yourselves with our delicious desserts." Who could resist?
Just a short note to express our appreciation for the way you looked after Tom and myself last week. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and your warm welcome made it even more special. The food was a culinary delight and the passion that you show for cooking is an inspiration to us all.
It has been a delight to be so well cared for in this beautiful historic house.
